Item thumb

In South Africa, at least 30 people are now thought to have died after police opened fire on striking mine workers.

It happened at a platinum mine in Rustenburg - where rival unions and police have been engaged in a violent stand-off for over a week now.

A further 10 people have died at the mine in recent days - where several hundred workers are on strike demanding better pay.
