Syrian army launch ground assault on Aleppo

Item thumb
The Syrian army is reported to have launched a ground assault on the northern city of Aleppo.

AFP is quoting a Syrian security official as having said that the army is advancing from west to east to cut the key rebel stronghold in half.

Meanwhile further evidence has emerged of heavy weapon use in the Syrian city of Aleppo.

Amnesty International has released satellite images, including one showing more than 6 hundred craters in a town near Aleppo.

It's adding to concerns over suspected plans for further attacks on the country's second city.
