Three judges at a hearing in Tokyo today decided to send the case back to the prosecutors, meaning the man - who is described as a professional musician - will now be tried as an adult.

A person under the age of 20 is usually a juvenile under Japanese law.

Nicola, a student from Curracloe, Co. Wexford, was strangled in a hotel in Tokyo on May 24th - following a concert.
