Anyone out there still holding onto their ticket for the Who at the Providence Civic Center in 1979 is in for an amazing surprise. According to RollingStone.com, The Rhode Island venue will be honoring the tickets when the Who return in February next year during their just-announced Quadrophenia tour.
The original show was cancelled following a tragic stampede before a show in Cincinnati. Concerned about safety, Providence mayor Buddy Cianci (See-ann-see I think, Lagh!) pulled the show and the Who never returned
However, It's unlikely that many fans still have the tickets. Most of them handed them in for refunds back in 1979. Nice gesture though
