Each and every Monday you can turn on Phantom and tune into the madness that is Jason Byrne.
From 10am til 12 noon Jason will bring his inspired original brand of high energy surreal humour to Phantom, having previously won a Gold Sony award for his show on BBC Radio 2 Phantom will be a his first weekly offering on Irish radio.
As was the case with Jason’s BBC show, the programme will be themed each week, with the list of possible themes including parenthood, shopping, law, history, sport and…walls. It’s kind of hard to explain, you’ll just have to tune in to find out.
What you can expect is lots of exclusive interviews, mayhem and most importantly the craic!
Here’s a bit about our Jason…
The biggest selling comedian at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival, Jason Byrne’s inspired, original brand of high-energy intelligent lunacy ensures that there is no other comedian like him and his sell out shows have attracted accolades including Chortle Award for Best Headliner 2007, Perrier Newcomer Award Nomination 1998 and Perrier Award Nomination 2001.
With a growing international profile, Jason has performed in New York, Boston, Hong Kong, Singapore, Brussels, Milan, Paris and Australia. His fan base in Australia continues to flourish and early 2011 saw his biggest, most exciting tour there to date – which he hopes to top in 2012.
His television credits include Live at the Apollo (BBC One), Comedy Rocks with Jason Manford (ITV1), hosting Dave’s One Night Stand (Dave) in Dublin, The Channel 4 Comedy Gala (Channel 4), Marco’s Kitchen Burnout (ITV1) and Anonymous (RTE2). Jason’s radio credits include two series’ of The Odd Half Hour (BBC Radio 4), Just A Minute (BBC Radio 4), And The Winner Is…(BBC Radio 2). He has also hosted three series’ of The Jason Byrne Show (BBC Radio 2), for which he won the Sony Gold Award for Best Comedy in 2011.
